Ventilation: As new homes get built tighter and existing homes get energy retrofits, upgrading to mechanical ventilation becomes necessary to keep the interior environment healthy. Older homes can also benefit from mechanical ventilation if they have problems like mold, nasty crawlspaces, radon, and other unhealthy conditions.
There are two types of balanced mechanical ventilation: Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRVs) and Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs). Depending on the climate zone that your residence or small commercial building is located in will help determine which type of ventilation would work best.
Research has shown that stoves that burn gas can emit harmful levels of CO (Carbon Monoxide), CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), and other pollutants created through the combustion process. HRVs and ERVs can dilute, but not eliminate, the effects from the gas.
